Greetings, traveller.

You have wandered through a mysterious gate and found yourself at Dragon’s Gate Gaming. No need to roll for initiative. There are no battles here.

Dragon’s Gate Gaming is a sensory-friendly, queer-affirming community game store where people of all races, abilities, and genders are welcome.

This is a space designed for comfort, connection, and play, where you can take things at your own pace and be yourself without judgement.

Whether you are here to explore games, join an event, or simply enjoy a welcoming environment, you are welcome at the table.

Adventures, stories, and shared experiences

Dragon’s Gate Gaming is a place where people come together through games, creativity, and shared interests. Our space is designed to feel welcoming and low-pressure, whether you are here for a planned event or simply to spend time in a comfortable, inclusive environment.

We host regular tabletop roleplay experiences, including Dungeons and Dragons campaigns that focus on collaboration, storytelling, and social connection. These sessions are structured to be approachable for new players while still engaging for those with more experience, with an emphasis on safety, consent, and enjoyment.

Alongside roleplay, we run Magic the Gathering events and open board game sessions using our in-house game library. Players are welcome to bring their own games or explore something new, with staff on hand to help explain rules and support participation at each person’s pace.

Creativity is also a big part of what happens here. Our space includes miniature painting, hobby sessions, and creative workshops, offering quieter, hands-on activities for those who prefer a more relaxed way to engage. These sessions are designed to be sensory-aware and supportive, with flexibility built in.

The physical space itself has been thoughtfully set up to support comfort and regulation. Lighting, layout, and seating are chosen with sensory needs in mind, and there is room to step back, take breaks, or simply observe if that is what feels right on the day.

Faewild Realm

A cosy, creative space designed for imagination and storytelling. The Faewild Realm is used for tabletop roleplay, small group games, and creative activities in a calm, welcoming environment. It is set up to feel comfortable and low-pressure, with flexible seating and gentle lighting to support focus and enjoyment.

Regulation Station

The Regulation Station is a quiet, sensory-aware space for grounding and emotional regulation. It offers a place to step back, take a break, and reset when things feel overwhelming. This space supports self-regulation through comfort, choice, and calm, and is available whenever someone needs time away from the main activity.

Draconic Castle

The Draconic Castle is our main tabletop space, designed for shared adventures and group play. This area hosts Dungeons and Dragons sessions, Magic the Gathering events, and structured group activities. The space balances excitement with comfort, supporting collaboration, communication, and positive social experiences.

Guild Hall

The Guild Hall is a flexible community space used for board games, social play, and group activities. It is designed to encourage connection and shared enjoyment, whether you are joining an organised session or playing something casually with others. Participation is always optional and supported at each person’s pace.

Board Game Rehoming Program

Every game has a story. When one chapter ends, another can begin.

Our Board Game Rehoming Program gives pre-loved board games the opportunity to find a new table. Bring in games you no longer play and we will assess them for store credit or resale, ensuring they are complete and ready for their next adventure.

This initiative supports sustainability, affordability, and community access. It allows more people to enjoy quality games while keeping great titles circulating within our local community.

Looking for a hidden gem or a lower-cost option? Visit our rehoming shelf in store and see what treasures are waiting.

Bring your board games into the store and complete our Rehoming Form. This form records your details and confirms the condition of the games you are submitting.

All games must be complete, in good condition, and suitable for resale. We do not accept damaged, heavily worn, or incomplete games.

We assess all games in-store. This process may take up to 24 hours, as we carefully check components, condition, and current demand.

We assess games based on popularity, condition, completeness, and whether we already have copies on our rehoming shelf.

If accepted, we offer store credit to be used toward other games within the Rehoming Program.

More common or widely available games will attract a lower store credit value. In some cases, very common titles may be declined, particularly if we already have copies available on the shelf.

Store credit applies only to rehomed board games. It does not apply to sealed trading card products, including sealed TCG items.

We do not accept games that contain racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory content or slurs. Dragon’s Gate Gaming is a queer-affirming and inclusive space, and our rehoming shelf reflects those values.

We also reserve the right to decline games based on condition, demand, duplication, or suitability for our community.

This initiative supports sustainability, affordability, and access. It allows games to continue bringing people together while helping families explore new titles at a lower cost.

If you have questions about whether a game is suitable, feel free to contact us before bringing it in.

Customer reviews

I have been playing TTRPG’s on and off since there 90’s and this is the best store I have ever played in. The separate rooms reduce overall noise, making the game much easier to follow and enjoy. The decor is stunning and other rooms have different themes.

The staff and customers here are delightful to be around. They are concious of both visible and hidden disabilities. They are understanding of neuro diverse needs and have accommodations built into their layout. They are also a very safe space for the LGBTQI+ community.

This is how gaming should be done!

Freyja

The owners are very welcoming and friendly. The spaces are comfortable and the sensory room is wonderful.
You can play the store’s board games or bring your own and they have a secondhand board game rehoming program so you can get store credit for games you no longer play and pick up a new preloved game to try.

Definitely recommend stopping by!

Wonderful inclusive store and gaming space. Dangerous for my wallet though; way too many cool sets of forbidden candy…

Getting Here

If you are driving, there is street parking available along Medway Street, which runs directly beside our building. This is often the simplest option and is only a short walk around the corner to our entrance.

Behind the building is a two storey parking complex. Within this complex, four parking spaces are allocated to Dragon’s Gate Gaming staff and clients from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. These spaces are undercover and clearly marked. Outside of these hours, most surrounding businesses are closed and visitors are welcome to park in the undercover parking or up the ramp within the complex.

If you are arriving by bus, the nearest bus stop is located near the Rocklea Hotel. From there, it is a short, mostly flat walk along Ipswich Road and around to Medway Street.

If you are coming by train, Rocklea Station is the closest station. From the station, follow the pedestrian path shown on the map, which safely guides you under and alongside the road toward Ipswich Motorway. This walking route leads through to Medway Street, with Dragon’s Gate Gaming just a few minutes away.

If at any point you feel unsure or turned around, please feel free to call us during opening hours. We are always happy to help guide you in. We know arriving somewhere new can feel overwhelming, and we want your first visit to feel calm and welcoming.
